What Is ODM and Why Choose It?

ODM stands for Original Design Manufacturing. Unlike OEM, where you provide the full design and spec, ODM means you select from our existing designs and customize them — colors, materials, branding, packaging. This is the fastest route to market for importers who want quality footwear without the cost and time of developing from scratch.

At MOHE, we have over 200 active ODM styles across sneakers, casual shoes, sandals, and boots. These are proven designs that have already passed wear testing and production optimization. You get a product that’s ready to sell, with your label on it.

ODM vs. OEM: Quick Comparison

ODM: Choose from existing designs. Customize colors, materials, logos. MOQ: 300–600 pairs per style. Lead time: 30–45 days.
OEM: You provide full design, tech pack, lasts. We engineer and produce. MOQ: 600–1200 pairs. Lead time: 60–90 days.

For most first-time importers, ODM is the smarter entry point. You test the market with lower risk and faster turnaround.

The ODM Process Step by Step

Step 1: Browse Our Catalog

We maintain a digital catalog updated quarterly. Each style includes photos, material specs, available sizes, and base price. You can request a physical sample of any style for $30–$50 (refundable with first order).

Step 2: Customization

Once you pick a base style, you choose:

Upper material: leather, PU, mesh, canvas, etc.
Colorway: we can match Pantone or provide our standard options.
Sole: rubber, EVA, TPU, or phylon.
Branding: embossed logo on tongue, heel, insole; custom hang tag; custom box.
Packaging: standard box or custom print (MOQ 1000 boxes).

We provide a digital mock-up within 3–5 days. Revisions are free up to 2 rounds.

Step 3: Sample Approval

After mock-up approval, we make a physical sample. This takes 7–10 days. You pay for the sample (typically $50–$80 including shipping). We ship via DHL or FedEx. Once you approve the sample, we move to production.

Step 4: Production & QC

Production takes 25–35 days for ODM orders. We run inline inspections at cutting, stitching, and assembly. Final random inspection (AQL 2.5) before shipment. You receive photos and videos during production.

Step 5: Shipping

We ship FOB from Shanghai, Ningbo, or Shenzhen. Sea freight takes 20–35 days depending on destination. We can also arrange door-to-door if needed.

MOQ, Pricing, and Lead Time

Minimum Order Quantities

ODM: 300 pairs per style per color. Mix sizes within the order.
Sample order: 1 pair per style (not for resale).
Mixed container: combine multiple ODM styles to reach container load.

Price Range (FOB China)

Prices depend on materials and complexity. Typical ranges:

Canvas sneakers: $4.50–$6.50/pair
PU casual shoes: $6.00–$9.00/pair
Leather boots: $12.00–$18.00/pair
EVA sandals: $3.00–$5.00/pair

Volume discounts: 5% off for 3000+ pairs, 10% off for 10,000+ pairs.

Lead Time

Sample: 7–10 days
Production: 25–35 days after sample approval
Shipping: 20–35 days sea freight

Total from order to delivery: 60–80 days.

Quality Control and Compliance

We are ISO 9001 certified and follow a 4-point QC system:
1. Incoming material inspection — all leather, textiles, soles checked before cutting.
2. In-process inspection — during stitching and assembly.
3. Final random inspection — AQL 2.5, normal level II.
4. Pre-shipment check — 100% visual check for major defects.

We can also arrange third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas) at your cost.
